30/7/2010 - Bridgetown, Barbados - Barbados 4WD Island Safari & Sail
It was a little overcast this morning, but I wasn't complaining since I got more than a little sunburned yesterday! (too much swimming!)
We were picked up from the cruise terminal by a large 4WD vehicle, our driver was excellent - very funny and informative! he took his time showing us around and explaining the various natural features we were going past.
There were a few hair raising moments as we drove through the real 4WD part of the tour, lots of mud flying everywhere - the vehicles went in a convoy through this section. After a brief stop for some photos at one of the more famous points on the island (the mushroom shaped rock below is featured in most of the tourism commericals for the island!).
One of the vehicles broke down (clutch issues after all the 4WDing) - but thankfully it wasn't ours! We were dropped off at a catamaran where we continued down the coast - we had a fair bit of rain, which made things a little hair as the boat was quite full of people, and obviously not intended for use in the rain! After lunch there was the opportunity to do some snorkling near where some turtles are fed - Dave managed to get very close to a few of the turtles, even feeding one by hand.
So today was another departure from the norm as far as tours go!
