Sunday 26th of May 2019 - Singapore

We sailed into Singapore in the early hours of the morning, past many, many other ships - in fact the last day there were ships going everywhere along our course.  Got told by the guide we had today that 1/3 of the worlds shipping goes through Singapore.

Singapore Harbour

Our tour today was Safari Breakfast at the Zoo.

Customs was quite tight for some reason (last time we were in Singapore it was all handled by the ship and we didn't have to face-to-face with customs) - this time however it was long lines and lots of waiting.

Anyway - our tour started with a drive over to the Zoo (about 45mins depending on traffic) - the guide pointed out various landmarks and such on the way - it was quite interesting, there's been a LOT of high-rise construction in the 10 years since I've been to Singapore and it's really developed.

Orangutans galore! (including two from Australia)
The trip to the Zoo began with breakfast with some of the Orangutans (they had their breakfast while we ate ours) and we got to take a few photos with them.  The food was ok - I guess I've been spooled a bit being on the cruise ship - oddly enough the only cooked meat I could find was chicken (ie: no bacon and chicken sausages) - there was even a KFC in the zoo itself.

White Rhinos

White Tigers
We were then free to roam around the zoo, it's a very open place - not many cages (the animals are separated from you via water or other obstacles, which doesn't impede you seeing them.  It was hot and very humid all morning (it had been raining a lot the last few days here from what we were told).  Dave and I stopped by lots of exhibits.. lots and lots..  in fact I was glad there was a tram service that ran around the Zoo every 10mins or so (you can jump on and off) because the place is huge!

It was a good day out, I haven't been to a zoo in many years and this one was very nice.

Here's a LINK to the Zoo's website.

Oh - if you're travelling overseas, I can't recommend enough Vodafone's $5 roaming plan - it's so nice to just pay $5 and have all my minutes/data while overseas!
