OK - so this is a big day!
We arrived around 7am and basically stepped off the ship, walked across the road and onto a train! There was another big cruise ship docked as well - each of the ships had a train-full of passengers heading into Berlin.

Tourist Train |
The trip took about 2.5 hours - the train went along at quite a good speed - topping at about 140kmph in some places. I was quite amazed at how green Germany is, I don't know why but I never pictured Germany having hundreds of miles of farms and crops. Like Holland there are wind-turbines all over the place, and entire fields filled with solar panels (we were told that farming rules say that fields have to be left without crops for a year or two, some kind of rotation-farming - when the field can't produce crops - they move mobile solar panels onto it and produce electricity!)

Crops, crops and more crops. |
/Berlin is a very green city! so many parks and trees!

Spree River Cruise |
We toured around on the bus and saw quite a few landmarks - The Reichstag, checkpoint charile, the remnants of the berlin wall. We even took a short cruise down the Spree river.

Dave at the Brandenburg gate |
Lunch was 'traditional german' quisine - yes it included Sauerkarut, no I didn't have any (it was very heavy on the meats, even for me!).
We walked around several places in the afternoon, before finally heading back to the train - we made good time on the way back - in fact we got back at 9:30pm - a good hour before sunset! It was a long day (more than 12 hours).
Yes it's very strange to see the sun sitting above the horizon at 10:30pm at night! at least to an Australian.
It was a fun and interesting day!
