6/7/2010 - Livorno, Italy (Easy Pisa tour)

The port of Livorno was a nice little town, which gets overlooked a lot because of it's proximity to Pisa and to Florence (our guide pointed this out to us, I think she lives in Livorno)

The main part of our tour was seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa - which took about 45mins to reach. The bus parked quite a distance from the main part of Pisa and we boarded a little trolley car that took us the rest of the way.
As advertised - the tower really does lean! the church/tower complex was quite lovely, with some relics remaining from when it was a port of the Roman empire!
This picture below is of a roman symbol found around this part of the world - Romulus and Remus with the Wolf (google it and you'll find quite a bit of info)
Pisa is quite a nice place, the town itself is quite pretty, with lots of old buildings/churches/etc.
It was only a short half day tour today and it was very nice to see something that I've only read about or seen in pictures!
