8/7/2010 - Barcelona, Spain (Best of Barcelona Tour)
We arrived in Barcelona to a lovely sunny day - it was quite warm - around 30C. Our first stop on the tour was a lookout that gave us a good overview of the city. It's quite a sprawling city, only a few tall buildings here and there.
Next we drove around some of the facilities that were used when Barcelona hosted the Olympics. Apparently this was a really important event, because the tour guide wouldn't shut up about the Olympics that happened more than 15 years ago!
The drive around the city was interesting, the streets are nice and wide and the place has a very relaxed feeling to it. The buildings have some strange architectural designs, but they were quite funky looking.
Our last major stop was at "La Sagada Familia" - it's a Gothic style church that they've been building since 1883 - nope, it's not finished yet - still a few years away. The design was quite impressive, even if they seem to be taking their time with the building of it!
On the way back to the peer we got a better look at the statue of Columbus - our guide said that most people will tell you that the statue of Columbus is pointing towards America - but actually it's point to the town that Columbus was born in!
Barcelona has a nice feel to it, the people were friendly and it'd be a nice place to spend a week or two!
