Sunday 30th of June 2019 - Tallinn (Estonia)

View from the ship
Another cruise terminal in the middle of the city - and another city that has been constantly fought over for the last thousand-odd years.

Some of the intact city walls and fortifications
Tallinn's history is similar to Riga - occoupied by denmark, germany, ussr, etc - however they took the route of building massive city defenses - which made it a tough target - even Ivan the terrible failed taking it when he tried (although he came close).

It's a city of towers and fortifications, lots and lots of towers - various powers have reinforced the city walls, build fortresses/etc - and a large number of them are still there!

A canon captured from the swedish

We did a walking tour of the old city - it took quite a while and walking on cobblestones for a long time is a bit hard on the feet!

More fortifications

It was a very nice little city - friendly and open, the old town was like stepping back in time, the new town very modern.
