7/7/3020 - Cannes, France (Monaco & Monte Carlo)

Cannes was a "Tendering" port - so after the usual line up for getting on the boats, we got ashore only a few minutes late - the tour was ready to go and we started driving towards Monaco. We passed through Cannes on the way and saw the various famous spots where the Film Festival happens.

The drive from Cannes to Monaco took us a bit over an hour, we passed Nice and the countryside was nice (pun intended).
Monaco is it's own little independant country, they have their own numberplates for vehicles/etc - in fact you can be in a few places where one side of the street is France, the other Monaco!
While we were there we visited the Prince's Castle - according to the flag on the tower, he was in the country too!

We then travelled to Monte Carlo and had a relax at one of the resturants opposite the famous casino - we bought 2 cokes and a Sprite - cost us EU$20 (around A$30 just for 3 600ml softdrinks!!!)

The streets are quite narrow, but we did manage to travel in the bus along one of the straights of the famous car race!

It's an interesting place to visit, but a damn expensive place to live!

thanks brett for a great nights reading.... We were interested in reading about your elite tour in rome as it is one that we have flagged for ourselves... sounded like you enjoyed it.... did you think it was worth the extra money...

I'd pick an elite tour again - the extra room on the bus, more stops, better food.

Unfortunately there are none left for us to pick on our cruise! :)
